In addition to its Sunday morning and evening worship services, First Baptist Church of Florence offers many additional opportunities for Christian ministry and growth. Below are some the current ministry activities of First Baptist Church. (Meeting times and places are subject to change. - Bible Study for all ages
- Sunday School classes for children and youth and Adult Bible Study groups meet each Sunday at 9:15 in the educational facilities of FBC.
- Wednesday Fellowship Supper and Prayer Meeting
- FBC Church Library
- The FBC Library is open each Sunday morning from 8:45 until 10:15.
- Library hours on Wednesday are from 4:00 until 5:00.
- Musical Groups -
- FBC Sanctuary Choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
- Ladies Ensemble and Mixed Ensemble rehearse Wednesdays at 6:00 pm.
- Circle of Friends (young adult ladies) rehearse as announced by the ensemble's director.
- Children's Choir and Preschool Choir rehearse on Sundays at 6:00 pm during the school year.
- Handbell Choir (youth and adults) rehearses Sundays 5:00 pm during the fall, winter, and spring.
- FBC Instrumental Ensemble rehearses as announced by its director.
- Missions and Ministry Goups
- Mission Friends, GAs for girls, and RAs for boys meet at 6:00 each Wednesday during the school year.
- Martha Anderson Group of Women on Missions generally meets at 11:00 on the second Tuesday of each month September through May .
- Annette Wheeler/Norman Herndon Group of Women on Missions generally meets at 6:00 on the third Tuedsay of each month September through May.
- The Mens Ministry breakfast is generally held at 8:00 am on the first Saturday of each month.
- Children's Ministry for birth through grade 6
- Childrens mission and musical groups meet as outlined in the above sections.
- Various ministry, learning, and fun activities are offered for children through grade 6 at times as announced on the church calendar.
- Youth Ministry for grades 7 through 12
- One 80 Bible Study for youth meets each Wednesday during the school year at 6:00.
- Ministry, service, learning, and fun activities are scheduled for youth at various times as announced on the church calendar.
- College Ministry
- During the fall and spring terms at UNA, First Baptist offers a College Bible Study and free lunch each Sunday following the morning worship service. Bible Study for college students meets at a different announced time during the summer.
- 737 College Bible Study meets at 7:37 each Wednesday evening during UNA's fall, spring, and summer terms.
- FBC's college group is involved in many ministry, service, learning, and fun activities throughout the year.
- Publications
- First Baptist Church publishes its First Family newletter on a weekly basis. Copies are mailed to members and friends of FBC. The most recent issues may be viewed or downloaded here.
- The weekly Encourager is distributed at the Wednesday Prayer Meeting service.
- Each December First Baptist publishes an Advent booklet outlining the many services held at FBC during the Advent season.
